Men’s Watches Worn By World Leaders To Go On Auction

Men’s watches that were once owned by some of the world’s most important political leaders are to be put up for auction next month. Sotheby’s in Geneva, Switzerland announced that Swiss watches which have been worn by some of the world’s most famous leaders are to be put up for auction next month. Sotheby’s will hosting the sale on November 13th 2011 in Geneva.
Among the items in the sale is an18-carat gold Rolex watch that was once owned by the late German chancellor Konrad Adenauer.  The gold watches was given to him by an unnamed person and comes with the name of the politician engraved on the reverse. It is common practice for luxury watches to be engraved with the owner’s name on the reverse of the watch.
Another lot in the sale is a rare 1948 Rolex Oyster Perpetual watch, which had been worn by India’s first president Rajendra Prasad. The men’s watch was given to him to mark his inauguration on January 26th 1950.
